Description
Dune is a sculptural luminaire whose form is intriguingly sinuous. Designed by Madrid-based Mayice, Dune is a single piece of hand-blown borosilicate glass enveloping a wooden diffuser with a seed-shaped opening on one side. The glass is hand blown by Eduardo Garuti, an accomplished craftsman. With mastery and great skill, Garuti is able to reveal the natural beauty found in the glass.
Dune's distinctive shape is composed of two symmetrical ends and an irregular bulbous centre. The wooden diffuser houses the lamp's dimmable LED light source, and the light descending through the seed-shaped opening is softened by the glass. Each Dune lamp is unique, the beauty found in the imperfection of the blown glass, with its almost wabi-sabi quality, ensures that Dune is like a work of art. In fact, each lamp is signed by the artisan, Eduardo Garuti.
