Description

The Universal TRIAC LED Dimmer Switch is a technical solution for controlling dimmable lighting through phase‑cut technology, compatible with LED luminaires, halogen lamps, or dimmable transformers. It mounts in standard 86×86 mm wall boxes and is compatible with standard design frames such as Schneider, JUNG, Elko, or Busch‑Jaeger, making it easy to integrate aesthetically into any residential or professional electrical installation.

TRIAC technology and dimming behaviour

This device uses trailing‑edge phase‑cut technology, an analogue solution that controls light intensity by modifying the waveform of the sine signal. While widely used for its simplicity and low cost, it does not provide completely linear dimming, especially at low brightness levels. It is common for some bulbs to flicker if the required minimum load is not met or if they are not well‑adapted to TRIAC dimming.

For projects that demand more precise and stable dimming—such as professional or architectural environments—we recommend considering solutions based on 0–10 V or DALI protocols, which are also available in our online catalogue.

In this model, the minimum load is approximately 3 W, but it is advisable to verify with each luminaire to ensure real compatibility. The maximum load is around 200 W for LED, making it suitable for most small‑ and medium‑sized residential and commercial installations.

Manual brightness adjustments (MIN/MAX)

On the front of the dimmer are MIN/MAX adjustment potentiometers, which allow you to set the minimum and maximum brightness thresholds of the luminaire. This feature is essential to prevent flicker when dimming below the stable operating level of the light source.

It also includes an integrated protection system against short circuits, overloads, and overheating, ensuring safety for both the device and the installation.

Easy installation and compatibility

It operates directly on 220 V AC and does not require a neutral wire, allowing installation in existing homes without modifying the wiring. This makes it a practical option for renovations or mechanism upgrades.
