Description

The Universal DALI Master LED Dimmer Controller is a professional solution for controlling dimmable luminaires using the DALI protocol. It is designed to be installed in standard 86x86 mm wall boxes and allows for precise control of individual luminaires or groups compatible with this digital standard. Its design is compatible with faceplates from well-known manufacturers such as Schneider, JUNG, Elko, and Busch-Jaeger, ensuring seamless aesthetic integration into all types of installations.

DALI Technology: Precision, Control, and Addressability

This controller operates with a direct 220–240V AC input and connects to the DALI bus via terminals DA1 and DA2. The voltage between these points is 16V ±5%, and the device is capable of supplying up to 250 mA—sufficient to power a small DALI system if no external power source is available. If an external DALI power supply is detected on the bus, the controller automatically disables its internal output to avoid conflicts. This makes it suitable for both simple installations and larger networks with a dedicated power source.

Configuration via DIP Switches

On the back, the unit features an array of 8 DIP switches that allow for configuring the operating mode and addressability within the DALI system. The following options can be selected:

Broadcast: Sends the signal to all luminaires on the bus without the need for addressing.
Group Address: Controls a specific, preconfigured group of luminaires.
Short Address: Directs control to a single DALI luminaire identified by a unique short address.

This flexible configuration allows the system to adapt to centralized, zoned, or individual control layouts—providing optimal versatility for residential, commercial, or tertiary projects.

Brightness Adjustment and Protection

The controller includes MIN/MAX adjustment potentiometers that allow for setting dimming limits to ensure stable lighting, avoid flickering, and optimise system performance. Additionally, it incorporates electronic protections against short circuits, overloads, and overheating—ensuring safety and long service life.

The DALI Master Controller is ideal for projects requiring precise, digital lighting control such as offices, retail spaces, hotels, museums, high-end residences, or smart home environments. Thanks to its compatibility with the DALI ecosystem, it integrates easily into advanced building automation or centralised control systems.
