What level of water protection is recommended when choosing a bathroom light?

Electricity and humid conditions are not the best bedfellows, so choosing a bathroom lamp with a suitable level of protection against water is crucial in order to guarantee its durability and avoid dangerous accidents.

A system known as IP is used to measure the level of protection for electrical devices. This classifies them according to their resistance against elements such as dust and humidity.

So, for a normal bathroom the protection recommended is IP44, which offers sufficient resistance to water to deal with the condensation and steam created in a normal bathroom without any problem. All our bathroom products have the recommended level of protection.

You also need to keep in mind that a greater level of protection is recommended for the area around the bath.

What type of light is most suitable for lighting in a bathroom?

The bathroom is where you wash, get ready, put on make-up and, therefore, it should have adequate lighting so that you can carry out specific tasks in complete comfort.

In general, for the bathroom we recommend using neutral or cool light sources, ensuring that they don’t project any kind of unwanted shadow on the surface of the mirror.

LED lighting with a colour temperature of some 4.000 K is the most recommended to correctly light a bathroom.

This will have the added advantage that LED lighting does not emit heat, it allows you to save energy and it offers greater safety against accidents.
