Question 1

What diameter should a round flush ceiling light have?

Accepted Answer

The diameter should be proportionate to the room and large enough to cover the installation point, but it does not determine the amount of light on its own. Models between 20 and 30 cm are common in small rooms. For living rooms or kitchens, diameters of 40 to 60 cm or several smaller fittings can be used.

Question 2

How many lumens does a room need?

Accepted Answer

As an initial guide, around 100 to 200 lumens per square metre can be used for general domestic lighting. A 12 m² room may require between 1,200 and 2,400 lumens, adjusted according to use, ceiling height and the colours of the walls and furniture.

Question 3

Can a round flush ceiling light illuminate the whole room?

Accepted Answer

It can in small rooms with a regular layout, provided it offers sufficient luminous flux and a wide beam angle, typically around 110° or 120°. In long spaces, rooms with high ceilings or areas with different functions, several fittings provide better uniformity than a single central flush ceiling light.

Question 4

Can it be installed on a concrete ceiling?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Surface-mounted flush ceiling lights are particularly suitable for ceilings without space for recessed installation. The mounting plate is fixed using screws and plugs suitable for the substrate, and the electrical connection is housed inside the base of the fitting.

Question 5

Which light is better, 3,000 or 4,000 K?

Accepted Answer

3,000 K provides warm light suitable for bedrooms and living rooms. 4,000 K gives a more neutral appearance that is better suited to kitchens, bathrooms, offices and work areas. It is advisable to use the same colour temperature for nearby fittings to avoid visible differences.

Question 6

Can a round flush ceiling light be dimmed?

Accepted Answer

Yes, provided the model is explicitly specified as dimmable. An LED-compatible dimmer must also be used and its minimum load respected. A non-dimmable flush ceiling light connected to a dimmer may flicker, make noise or operate unstably.
