About E27 LED bulbs

E27 LED bulbs are ideal for replacing the traditional bulbs in our homes known as "wide screw". They are perfect for all kinds of applications and are therefore one of the most popular bulb types.

Within this category we find different models, features and shapes, from which we can choose according to our own needs and personal preferences in terms of LED lighting.

The most common are round, pear or globe shaped, but you can find E27 LED bulbs in a variety of shapes. You will also find models with filaments that recreate the look of the old E27 tungsten filament bulbs. On the other hand, we also have RGB bulbs, whose main feature is that they allow us to change their colour to create different atmospheres.

In addition, we now have models of smart E27 bulbs that can be programmed and controlled remotely via our mobile phone.

What does E27 mean?

The E27 code indicates that we are talking about an Edison threaded screw, remember that it was Thomas Edison who developed it in 1909, with a diameter of 27 mm.

What size are E27 bulbs?

Each bulb model is different in shape and size. Before choosing a bulb we must make sure that it will fit in the place where we are going to install it. For example, an E27 A60 bulb, one of the most common bulbs, has a radius of 60 mm and a length of about 110 mm.

How to choose the right E27 bulb?

As with the purchase of any type of bulb, we must pay special attention to:

Bulb shape: it is important that the shape of the bulb matches the style of the lamp.

Opening angle of the light beam: If we want to focus the light on one point, we will buy bulbs with a narrow beam width. For general illumination of the space, we will opt for apertures of at least 120º.

Dimmable: if we need to adjust the light level according to the occasion we will choose dimmable models.

Colour temperature: choose the one that adapts to the type of lighting in each room and the use we make of it.

As you can see, E27 LED bulbs are the most efficient alternative to conventional bulbs. They are also very easy to replace. In most cases we only have to unscrew the current bulb and put the new one in its place.
